Aug. 18 – prior to the Aug. 19 deadline Trump imposed, he ‘paused’ his questionable tariffs for 3 days based on a ‘deal pending’ but Carney was less enthusiastic saying ‘much work yet to do’; meanwhile, there is reporting that the ‘first ever use of a 1930 law Trump is relying on’ would likely fail to pass the test if challenged in the courts, but then the damage will have been done … to, too soon to tell, but tensions seem to have eased … a bit; great article by Jack Mintz, seems it’s high-stakes poker where everybody loses
